Blogger of the Month March 2025: Jamreads

Welcome to the first of our Blogger of the Month feature where we at Read Indie Fantasy want to celebrate the bloggers, booktubers, and booktokers that review and support indie authors! It’s these amazing bloggers who volunteer their time championing authors, and without them, it would be a lot harder for self-published and indie authors to spread the word about their books. In short, the blogger-author relationship is a special one, and we appreciate reviewers and bloggers as they appreciate awesome new books!

So without further ado, let’s introduce our first Blogger of the Month for March, Jamedi of JamReads.com!

Jamedi is a prolific reader who aims to make your TBR close to infinite! He has reviewed many indie and self-published authors on his blog and hosts regular features where authors are invited to share their thoughts via guest posts. He has also been a regular judge for the SFINCS novella competition.

Not only is Jamedi a dedicated supporter of indie books, but he is a lovely person who is always eager to support authors via cover reveals and spotlights. Learn more about Jamedi and his reading and blogging processes below, and take a look at his blog!

Please tell us a little about yourself and your blog:

Hey, people. Iโ€™m Jamedi, a bookblogger from Spain; I publish my content at Jamreads(dot)com, where I try to cover SFF/Horror, Romantasy and occasionally Thrillers. It also includes interviews, reveals and more!

What made you become a book blogger?

Honestly, I wanted to ramble about the books I liked; I wasnโ€™t keen on the video format, so written seemed to be the most natural one. And since them, Iโ€™m really happy of having taken that decision.

What do you write about on your blog?

I try to keep a balance between different content, but I always tend to resort to reviews as the main content; I try to give my honest opinion of the book and why or why not somebody would love it.

How often do you update your blog?

In an ideal world, it would be daily; however, many days I just donโ€™t find the strength or the time to do it, so I would say each two days is a good timeframe to check whatโ€™s new on Jamreads

What are your goals as a book blogger?

To be fair, I would like to reach a wider audience, as it would help to spotlight more books to people that might not be aware of their existence. I think itโ€™s important to work about narrowing our reading tastes, and I try to left my biases outside of my reading.

What is your favourite thing about being a book blogger?

Interviewing authors might be one of my favourite things; itโ€™s always a bit nerve wrenching to interview somebody that you admire, but still, itโ€™s something I enjoy greatly.

What are some of your favourite posts youโ€™ve created? Feel free to link them below and tell us why you loved making them!

What can I say? I love all the posts I do, but personally, I feel especially proud of my two top 2024 reads lists. I want to think I cover a wide variety of genres, and that any reader can find a book for them; even if they are brave, they can defy their preconceptions and discover hidden gems.

What does your TBR look like?

A total chaos; I try to keep an order with book tours and all, but outside of that, there are more than I can bite. Iโ€™m an ambitious person, and trying to be a one-man-army requires a big effort.

How do you decide what to read or review next?

People might not believe me, but outside of โ€œfixed datesโ€, I usually just let the mood pick. I try to always snatch a bit of variety if I see Iโ€™m reading too much into a genre (imagine Iโ€™ve read 5-6 space opera in a row), so the brain doesnโ€™t start experiencing genre fatigue.

Finally, what are some of your favourite indie or self-published books?

Trust me when I say it is difficult to say just a few, but I will try: I would totally recommend Undineโ€™s Blessing, by Tessa Hastjarjanto (Upper Middle Grade), Shattered Spirits, by Cal Black (if you are looking for Bloodborne like vibes), This Too Shall Burn by Cat Rector (feminine rage is always a must), However Many Must Die, by Phil Williams (trust me, this one is probably a hidden gem) and Hell for Hire, by Rachel Aaron (I love Bex so much)
